Show 1: Nicole's flat
Date: 09/10/25
Host: Nicole
Audience size: 5
Show length: 87 minutes
Nicole is a close friend, and brilliant actress who I've written for over the last couple of years - a Christmas show (Cambridge/London runs) and 2 Brighton Fringe productions. She's also an avid host of house shows, always providing an audience who will be supportive...she hosted so many of my work-in-progress ramblings, allowing me to test the water before going public with whatever idea I have next. With that in mind, Nicole's flat was the perfect choice for show number 1 as the audience were likely to be forgiving. And that was exactly the case, the show - intended to be about an hour, just went on, some bits dragged, others felt rushed. But on the whole, as a show, this works. A lot of what I do doesn't, but this one really does. It's just...well, I've got a lot to say, and a lot to cover, in this piece and it does need an edit. I could literally have gone on for two hours, it felt like I barely scratched the surface. They were such a kind, warm audience of friends, though, I couldn't have asked for an easier start.
